Ludwig, Scheider, Güven – three generations of DTM champions at the Nürburgring

Klaus Ludwig (1982, 1988, 1994), Timo Scheider (2008, 2009) and Ayhancan Güven (2025) – three DTM champions from three decades came together at the event at the Nürburgring.

Whilst the two veterans, Ludwig and Scheider, have long been part of DTM history, the current title-holder, Güven, has moved on to the FIA WEC following his triumph. This made the visit to his former stomping ground all the more enjoyable for the first Turkish DTM champion.

“It’s great to be back at the DTM. The atmosphere in the paddock and on the grid, and the fantastic fans, are unique. I’d love nothing more than to be sitting in a racing car myself and taking part,” Ayhancan Güven explained happily. But mingling with the crowd clearly gave him great pleasure too: “I feel like a rock star – I’ve had to take so many selfies here at the Ring.”

During Saturday’s grid formation, Ayhancan Güven used the T-shirt cannon to shoot a T-shirt towards the main grandstand to make a fan happy, causing a laugh amongst those present as he fired the T-shirt right over the grandstand.
