Still injured! Isack Hadjar (Red Bull Racing) ruled out of Madrid too

For Red Bull Racing driver Isack Hadjar, the second half of the season following the summer break began with some bad news: the young Frenchman had injured his wrist whilst training during the break. He was at the track for the race at Zandvoort just over two weeks ago, but could only watch from the sidelines. Then came the next setback last Wednesday: Hadjar was still not fit to race at Monza either. Now, on the Monday before this weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid, it is clear that Hadjar will also be sidelined at the Madrid circuit. The replacement arrangement is the same as at Zandvoort and Monza: Liam Lawson steps up from the Racing Bulls to replace Hadjar. Yuki Tsunoda steps in for Lawson.

Full recovery is the priority

On Monday evening, Red Bull Racing announced: “Having already driven for the team at Zandvoort and Monza, Liam will also be driving alongside Max at this week’s Spanish Grand Prix. The decision was made whilst Isack’s recovery continues to progress positively. Whilst he is not yet ready to return to the cockpit, he will be in Madrid to support the team.” He will therefore be on site. The statement continues: “Everyone at Oracle Red Bull Racing is looking forward to welcoming Isack back behind the wheel very soon.”

No unnecessary risks!

The new circuit in Madrid is twisty and is likely to be challenging for the drivers, even with a healthy wrist. Even in the announcement that Hadjar would also miss the Monza race, it was stated, amongst other things: “The team will not take any unnecessary risks with his return to competition.” In other words: his health is the top priority. No wonder: the racing calendar for the coming weeks is packed. A comeback needs to be carefully considered.
