US Grand Prix on TV: Who has the best chance of winning in Austin?
The race at the Circuit of the Americas is just round the corner and the big question is: who has the best chance on the Texan circuit? ServusTV expert Christian Klien offers his prediction.

In recent years, Max Verstappen has largely been the benchmark at the Formula 1 circuit in Austin: since 2021, the exceptional driver from the Red Bull Racing team has won the race at the Circuit of the Americas four times.
Only in 2024 did another driver, Ferrari ace Charles Leclerc, emerge as the clear winner. Verstappen still made it onto the podium that year, however, as he crossed the finish line in third place behind the Monegasque driver and his former team-mate Carlos Sainz, who is now chasing points for Williams.
Verstappen has also been in irresistible form recently: he set the pace at both the race weekend in Malaysia and the subsequent showdown in Singapore. He secured pole position and the Grand Prix victory on both occasions; in the city-state, he also managed to secure the best starting position in the final sprint of the year and turn it into a triumph.
2026 US Grand Prix: A race that will set the tone
Does this mean that the four-time world champion is also the clear favourite in Austin? ServusTV expert Christian Klien comments: “In terms of top speed, Red Bull Racing has been very strong recently; it feels as though the car can do anything now.” At the same time, however, the former F1 driver also makes it clear: “The medium-speed and fast corners suit McLaren, but they’re at a disadvantage in the slow corners. Ferrari remains a bit of a wild card. And then there’s the question of how well Mercedes has understood the upgrade and knows how to set it up.”
One thing is certain, adds the driver with 29 Grand Prix starts to his name: “This race will set the tone for the balance of power over the remaining race weekends.” Klien will be on site alongside Andrea Schlager to follow the action and analyse the latest developments for Austrian Formula 1 fans from the pit lane. Commentary for ServusTV will be provided by Andreas Gröbl, Mathias Lauda and Patrick Friesacher.
In Germany, as usual, Sky F1 will broadcast all sessions live, whilst RTL will also show qualifying on free-to-air TV. Swiss fans can watch the final practice session on SRF Info, with SRF2 showing the race on Sunday.
