Siebdrath passes his driving test and extends his contract with Freudenberg

Even before the outcome of the current Euro Moto Sportbike season is decided this weekend at Hockenheim, Freudenberg Paligo Racing has set an important course for 2027: Mika Siebdrath will once again be racing for the Saxon team in the Euro Moto Sportbike class next season.

For Siebdrath and Carsten Freudenberg’s team, this marks the continuation of a partnership that has already yielded impressive results in their first season together. The young Saxon quickly established himself among the frontrunners in the fledgling Sportbike category in 2026 and heads into the final race weekend as the top German Sportbike rider and the best rookie of the 2026 season.

A particular highlight of the season so far was their joint podium finish at Most. Over the course of his rookie season, Siebdrath demonstrated an impressive learning curve and became increasingly comfortable on the Triumph Daytona 660 as well as within the team’s professional environment.

Mika Siebdrath is also delighted to have clarity about his sporting future even before the season finale: “I’m absolutely delighted that we’ll be continuing together in 2027. I feel incredibly at home in the team and have felt from the very start that I’m in the right environment here to develop further. Working with my crew is a lot of fun and I get exactly the support I need. I also feel really at home on the Triumph Daytona 660. The whole Triumph package works very well for me and, over the course of the season, we’ve come to understand better and better how to get the most out of it. A big thank you to Carsten, the whole team and all our partners for their trust.”

Just a few days earlier, the teenager had successfully passed his driving test. The 17-year-old won’t be allowed to ride unaided until March next year. As his brother Marvin, who competes in the Euro Moto Supersport series, is still too young to act as a passenger – you have to be 25 – his mum is registered as his passenger. “We haven’t managed to go on our first ride yet,” explained the rookie, “but we’ll make up for that next week.”

Carsten Freudenberg: “Mika was our top choice for 2027”

For team boss Carsten Freudenberg, continuing the partnership was therefore the logical next step: “Mika really impressed us in his first sportbike season. Not just with his results, but above all with his development, his willingness to learn and the way he’s integrated into our team. At the same time, as a Saxon team, we’re proud to continue supporting a talented young rider from Saxony. For us, Mika was therefore quite clearly our preferred candidate for 2027. He has already demonstrated his potential, and at the same time we are convinced that there is still much more to come. So extending his contract for 2027 was the logical next step.”

With this early contract extension, Siebdrath can head into the final weekend of the season without any additional pressure regarding his future. The focus is now on the last two races of the year and the battle for the best possible position in the championship.
