Moto3 World Championship leader Maximo Quiles (Aspar) will move up to Moto2 in 2027

In the 2026 Moto3 World Championship, Maximo Qulies is the rider to beat. The Aspar rider has secured six wins and a total of ten podium finishes in eleven races this year. At the halfway point of the season, he leads the overall standings with a 104-point lead over Brian Uriarte (KTM Ajo).

Quiles is therefore well on his way to his first world title. On 16 July, his future was also confirmed: the 18-year-old will move up to the Moto2 World Championship in 2027 as part of the Aspar team.

“I’m absolutely raring to go and can’t wait to try out the Moto2 bike – I’m really looking forward to it,” said Maximo Quiles. “I think it’ll be a bike that really suits my riding style and is a lot of fun. I’m tall and have long arms, so I think this type of bike will suit me well.”

Commenting on his dominance in the 2026 Moto3 World Championship, Quiles said: “To be honest, the first half of the year went very well. We’re all very pleased with these results. The work of the whole team has been and continues to be outstanding, and things have gone very well for me too. Our aim was to take the lead in the class. At the moment I have quite a points lead, but I haven’t given any thought to exactly how many there are – I don’t care whether it’s one, fifty or a hundred points. The important thing is that we maintain the same mindset.”
