Moto3 qualifying at Misano: German Intact team celebrates Almansa’s pole

In Friday’s qualifying session, David Almansa of the KTM Team Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP secured pole position with a time of 1:40.767, with Australian Joel Kelso (GRYD Honda) already 4/10 of a second off the pace in second place, and World Championship leader Maximo Quiles (CF Moto Aspar) over half a second behind in third.

From the 15-minute Qualifying 1 session on Saturday afternoon, championship runner-up Alvaro Carpe, Ryusei Yamanaka, Hakim Danish and Jesus Rios progressed to Q2, where they joined the top 14 from the qualifying session. Carpe’s best time of 1:41.519 minutes – set after overnight rain had washed away all tyre marks – is well above David Alonso’s lap record from 2024 (1:40.184 minutes). Austrian rider Leo Rammerstorfer (SIC58 Honda) secured 23rd on the grid in the 26-rider field.

In Qualifying 2, after two laps, Valentin Perrone (Red Bull KTM Tech3) set the first notable fastest time of 1:41.548 minutes, leading by a hair’s breadth ahead of his team-mate Brian Uriarte.

In the final five minutes, the times kept falling: Almansa took the lead with a time of 1:40.862 and improved to 1:40.716 on the next lap – the best time of the weekend so far. On his third lap of this stint, the Spaniard improved yet again and, with a time of 1:40.612, secured pole position for the sixth time this season. Uriarte and Kelso complete the front row, trailing by 0.217 and 0.397 seconds respectively, which underlines Almansa’s outstanding pace.

The second row is made up of Perrone, Quiles and Matteo Bertelle, whilst the third row features Casey O’Gorman, Rico Salmela and Carpe. Eight KTM riders feature in the top 10; only Kelso (3rd) and O’Gorman (7th) are riding Hondas.
