The word ‘historic’ should not be used lightly, but when a brand enters the world of motocross for the first time and, in its third season, wins the World Championship whilst also producing the runner-up, it is fair to describe it as a historic one-two. Spain’s Guillem Farres is the MX2 World Champion with 11 Grand Prix victories, ahead of his team-mate Camden McLellan. Both ride a Triumph TF250-X, the bike with which Triumph entered the Motocross World Championship in 2024.
The production model was launched in spring 2024 and has undergone minor changes with each model year since then. The biggest overhaul to date is now set to take place for the 2027 model year.
The engine features new valve guides and a revised gearbox with a new shift drum and a new ratchet wheel for more precise gear changes. The clutch features new linings, friction plates and a new clutch bearing. In addition, the engine mapping has been further developed to improve throttle response, controllability and torque delivery whilst maintaining the same peak power output.
Damping adjustments can now be made on the fork without tools. The fork tubes are housed in new, milled triple clamps and, as is often the case, the damping on both spring elements has been retuned.
There is also a new start/stop handlebar switch and, of course, a new design, finished entirely in black for 2027. The engine base, aluminium frame, braking system and electronic features remain unchanged from the 2026 model.
The 2027 Triumph TF250-X costs €10,295 in Germany (CHF 10,390 in Switzerland, €10,595 in Austria) and is still available in October.
