Marini (Honda): “A circuit like Silverstone demands everything from you!”

Luca Marini is the very picture of consistency. Alongside the strong Ducati and Aprilia riders, the Honda works rider regularly finished in the top 10 during the first half of the season. It was no different at the last Grand Prix before the summer break at the Sachsenring – Valentino Rossi’s half-brother finished eighth in Sunday’s main race.

Marini has scored points at each of this year’s eleven race weekends. In the World Championship standings, the Italian sits in tenth place with 79 points – he is 31 points ahead of the Brazilian Diogo Moreira, who has been Honda’s second-best rider so far. At Silverstone this weekend, Marini is aiming to add to his points tally once again. His best result on the fast English circuit was seventh place in 2023.

“I’m ready to get back on track and see the team again. The last few weeks have been very important for me, both physically and mentally – a break to recharge so I can ride at full capacity again in the second half of the season,” said the 28-year-old, looking ahead. “A circuit like Silverstone demands everything from a rider, so it’s a good place to get back into race mode. Qualifying will once again be the first crucial moment of the weekend, and I hope we can make it through to Q2. We need to keep scoring good points to secure our place in the top 10 of the overall standings and remain the fastest Honda.”

Luca Marini could give himself the best present of all with some good results at Silverstone – the Italian celebrates his 29th birthday on 10 August.
