MotoGP 2027 at the Red Bull Ring: The date is set – no price increase!

The MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group (formerly Dorna) generally reports the cumulative attendance figures for the weekend, i.e. it adds together the numbers of visitors on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Last year, 117,560 fans attended the event at Spielberg; in the record-breaking year of 2016, when MotoGP made its debut there, the figure was a phenomenal 215,850 spectators. And since then, with the exception of the ‘ghost races’ during the Covid season of 2020, attendance has consistently exceeded 150,000.

Naturally, following 2025, an in-depth investigation was carried out to identify the causes of the decline in attendance; in response, the event was rescheduled from mid-August to mid-September. The idea behind this was to avoid clashing with the holiday season. Yet although last weekend’s MotoGP spectacle at the Red Bull Ring was, as usual, entertaining, top-class and unique in many respects – and the autumn weather on Saturday and Sunday was at its best and warmest – spectator turnout was once again lower: A total of just 101,500 people attended, with a good 46,000 in the stands and standing areas for Sunday’s Grand Prix.

For those in charge, one thing is clear: the experiment with a September date has failed. In 2027, the race will be held in August again – specifically on the last weekend, from 27th to 29th. Another thing that has already been decided: there will be no price increases for tickets!

In 2027, there will once again be a rich and spectacular supporting programme, the likes of which are rarely found at any other circuit. Details will be announced in due course. Advance ticket sales for the 2027 MotoGP at the Red Bull Ring will begin later today, Monday 20 September. To buy tickets, visit the circuit’s online ticket shop; tickets for the DTM (23–25 April) and Formula 1 (9–11 July) are already available.
