Following a summer break of just under four weeks, the riders and teams of the MotoGP World Championship will kick off the second half of the 2026 season this coming weekend at Silverstone. The British Grand Prix will take place from 7 to 9 August.

After a 23-year hiatus, the British Grand Prix has been held annually at the Silverstone circuit near Northampton since 2010 – only in 2018 did heavy rain prevent the races from taking place on the 5.891 km circuit, which features eight left-hand and ten right-hand corners. In addition, the 2020 event had to be cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Last year, Alex Márquez (Gresini Ducati) won the MotoGP Sprint, whilst Aprilia rider Marco Bezzecchi took victory in the Grand Prix. World Championship leader Jorge Martín (Aprilia) heads to Silverstone with a 14-point lead over Ai Ogura (Trackhouse Aprilia). Champion Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo) currently lies in third place, four points behind the Japanese rider. The top five in the overall standings are separated by just 24 points.

At Silverstone, alongside the MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 classes, the riders of the Harley-Davidson Bagger World Cup will also be on the grid once again. Local hero Bradley Smith will be competing on the British Isles on a wildcard.

Fans in Germany, Austria and Switzerland should bear in mind a one-hour time difference. Furthermore, to ensure that the main MotoGP race on Sunday still starts as usual at 2.00 pm Central European Time, the starting order will be changed, with the Moto3 class bringing the day to a close with its race at 3.30 pm. The Moto2 race will start as usual at 12.15 pm. On Saturday, the premier class sprint race will not start until 5 pm.
