Former Formula 1 driver Nikita Mazepin to compete in the STT at Spa

A high-profile new entry in the Spezial Tourenwagen Trophy (STT for short), a German amateur racing series for GT cars and touring cars. Former Formula 1 driver Nikita Mazepin will be competing for Motopark in a Mercedes-AMG GT3 at the Spa-Francorchamps race weekend, as shown in the series’ entry list.

The Russian has previously completed test drives for the Motopark team at the Lausitzring and at Spa-Francorchamps, where he is already familiar with the Mercedes-AMG GT3. In 2025, Mazepin also competed in the 24 Hours of Dubai in a Rossa LM GT, which marked his debut in a GT car. Prior to that, he competed in the Asian Le Mans Series in the 2023 and 2023/2024 seasons in an LMP2 prototype.

As Mick Schumacher’s team-mate, Mazepin competed in Formula 1 with Haas in 2021, but failed to score any points.

Mazepin will therefore not be the only former Formula 1 driver in the STT line-up, as Christian Klien will be behind the wheel of a Lotus Emira GT4.
