World Championship veteran Domi Aegerter (Kawasaki): "400 races an achievement"

After finishing 17th and 18th at the meeting in MotorLand Aragón, Dominique Aegerter was dejected. Not scoring any world championship points is something that a two-time Supersport World Champion cannot accept, especially as his Kawasaki team-mate Jeremy Alcoba finished 11th and 10th.

Aegerter was hoping and expecting to get a better performance out of the ZX-6R 636 during the race weekend at the Misano World Circuit. However, as 18th in Superpole, the 35-year-old was only partially successful - but neither was Alcoba, who was one place behind him on the grid.

It was also the young Spaniard who Aegerter had to deal with most of the time in the first race. The rider from Rohrbach crossed the line in 13th place, just 0.272 seconds ahead of the 24-year-old. The relief was huge.

"I'm happy to have finally finished in the points again," said Aegerter, breathing a sigh of relief. "It was a tough nut to crack in this heat, but 13th place and three points are a small reward. The team did a good job on the bike and I felt quite comfortable, even though we were on the limit in every corner. So we will analyse the data carefully and hopefully improve a bit more for tomorrow's warm-up. I did my best in the race, but our grid position is really not helping us to get better results. We are working very hard as a team and both myself and my crew have given everything to find something that will make us faster."

By the way: Aegerter contested the 400th World Championship race of his career. The Kawasaki rider has been racing internationally since 2006. Starting in the 125cc World Championship, then Moto2 and MotoE as well as the Supersport and Superbike World Championships.

"It's nice to have something to celebrate," smiled Aegerter. "I think it's an achievement that I can be a little proud of.
