It was a truly thrilling race at the seventh round of the 2026 FIA WEC at the ‘Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya’. Toyota took the win with the TR010 Hybrid driven by Brendon Hartley, Ryo Hirakawa and Sébastien Buemi, narrowly ahead of the sister car driven by Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Nyck de Vries. Ferrari completed the podium. Here are some further comments from the drivers on the race.

Sébastien Buemi – winner in the Toyota TR010 Hybrid

“It’s undoubtedly a fantastic day for the whole team. I’m absolutely delighted to be able to celebrate the title with the entire team with a one-two finish. After a difficult season last year, this shows just how hard the team has worked over the winter to get the TR010 Hybrid on the grid, win Le Mans and secure both titles. Now I hope that Brendon, Ryō and I can also clinch the drivers’ title at Monza.”

Miguel Molina – third place in the Ferrari 499P

“It was a fantastic weekend, made truly special by the excitement of racing at home and achieving such a positive result together with my team-mates. It’s always been my dream to finish on the podium in Barcelona – I’m absolutely delighted to have achieved that. Even before the race, we knew that the 6 Hours of Barcelona would be a major challenge for us; but we worked as hard as we could and managed to make the most of every opportunity that came our way. My first stint went very well, as did my team-mates’ pace in the middle and final stages of the race – so I’m completely satisfied with this result.”

Jack Aitken – fourth place in the Cadillac V-Series.R

“Another really good, solid race for us. It was difficult to keep up with the pace of some of the cars at the front. So we did our best to score points and – after a rather difficult start in the wet – work our way up the field. Finishing fourth and sixth with both cars is an excellent result. We finished the race very cleanly, the strategy was brilliant, and we really made the most of our potential.”

Dries Vanthoor – seventh place in the BMW M Hybrid

“It certainly wasn’t the weekend we’d hoped for. We struggled all week, with yesterday’s qualifying session being the low point in terms of pace. In the race, we had some good stints and managed to work our way up the field to fifth place. Towards the end of the race, however, we lost pace again, couldn’t keep up with the others and eventually dropped back to seventh place. Congratulations to Toyota! We put up a good fight against them in the battle for the Manufacturers’ World Championship. Compared to last season, however, we’ve taken a big step forward. That’s why we can still take some positives from this weekend, even though we’re disappointed today. At the same time, we can be pleased that we were in the running for the World Championship right up until the penultimate race of the season.”

Richard Lietz – LMGT3 winner in the Porsche 911 GT3 R LMGT3

“It was a challenging race in Barcelona with changing weather conditions and plenty of safety car periods. In the end, though, everything simply clicked for us today. We were able to build up a lead time and again, and the crew delivered superbly, both strategically and in the pits, as always. Once again, I’m happy and proud to be part of this team and this success.”
