The seventh race weekend of the 2026 FIA WEC season is in full swing. The first day of practice at the ‘Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya’ in Montmeló has now come to an end – and Aston Martin put in a strong performance. With a time of 1:31.712 minutes, Harry Tincknell was unbeatable. As is well known, the Briton shares the driving duties with Tom Gamble.

“It was a brilliant day, and we finished top of the timesheets. We’ve consistently had good Fridays recently,” said Tincknell. “I’m really looking forward to qualifying. We hope to be up front then as well. But it won’t be easy. The track currently offers very little grip. However, we’re continuing to work hard. The weather forecast for the race is going to be interesting, as rain is generally expected.”

Just 0.038 seconds behind, second place on the day went to the Genesis GMR-001 hypercar driven by Luis Felipe Derani, André Lotterer and Mathys Jaubert, with Jaubert setting the fastest lap. Third place went to Philip Hanson, Robert Kubica and Yifei Ye in the Ferrari 499P fielded privately by AF Corse, who were 0.084 seconds off the pace.

Behind them came Norman Nato, Will Stevens and Alex Lynn in the Cadillac V-Series.R, 0.092 seconds adrift. The top five was rounded off by the Toyota TR010 Hybrid driven by Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Nyck de Vries. In the LMGT3 class, the Ferrari 296 LMGT3 Evo driven by Francois Hériau, Simon Mann and Alessio Rovera led the way with a time of 1:41.420 minutes.
