Audi is expanding its Formula 1 racing car manufacturing facility: Less than a kilometre from Audi Motorsport AG’s current base in Hinwil (Switzerland), parts of the new campus on Zürichstrasse are due to come into operation in the summer of 2026, with full development scheduled for completion by 2030.
Throughout the development phase, the existing site on Wildbachstrasse will remain fully operational and will subsequently be repurposed as the team’s production centre and wind tunnel facility.
The Formula 1 power units will continue to be developed and manufactured in Neuburg, Germany, whilst the team will retain its technical centre in Bicester, United Kingdom.
The campus project represents an investment in people, performance and the future of the team; it brings together the skills required to compete for championships, whilst simultaneously creating sustainable value for the entire organisation.
Mattia Binotto, CEO and Team Principal of the Audi Revolut F1 Team:
“Our campus will play a key role in helping us attract and retain world-class talent, whilst providing the foundations necessary to achieve our long-term ambitions.”
“Building a successful Formula 1 team is ultimately about the people. The best engineers, designers, mechanics and specialists want to work in an environment that enables them to collaborate, innovate and perform at the highest level. The campus will help us create exactly that environment.”
“What makes this project special is that it allows us to shape the future of the Audi Revolut F1 Team from the ground up. Opportunities like this are rare in modern Formula 1. We’re not simply moving into an existing facility; we’re creating a home tailored to our people, our culture and our ambitions. This campus is a vital part of that journey.”
“We are proud that the next chapter of the Audi Revolut F1 Team is being written in Hinwil, and I would like to express my personal thanks to the community of Hinwil itself.”
Motorsport has been part of life in Hinwil since 1970, with numerous suppliers in the region spanning two generations; it was founded by Peter Sauber and has been involved in Formula 1 for 33 years, beginning with the 1993 South African Grand Prix.
