Budapest GP at the Hungaroring: How confident can Ferrari be?

Ferrari’s points haul at the latest Formula 1 showdown at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps may not have been as generous as it was at the previous race weekend at Silverstone. Yet, with 30 points, there was still plenty for the Maranello-based team to celebrate. Charles Leclerc crossed the line in second place, securing a podium finish. Lewis Hamilton finished fourth despite the penalty he received for causing the collision with George Russell.

Fred Vasseur’s team can therefore look forward to the next Grand Prix with confidence. It will be held at the Hungaroring, where the Scuderia have already contested 40 Grands Prix, secured seven Grand Prix victories and celebrated 26 podium finishes. The team principal had this to say about his team’s recent performance: “After two promising weekends, during which we were able to make the most of our potential thanks to a superb team effort, we are now heading to Budapest.”

The Frenchman explains: “That gives us confidence.” At the same time, he warns: “But we also know that every Grand Prix brings its own unique challenges.” And he adds: “On paper, the Hungaroring might suit the characteristics of our car a little better, but that alone is, of course, no guarantee.”

“As always, execution will be key: we must approach the weekend with the same focus, discipline and attention to detail that we’ve shown in the last two races. We have a team that sticks together, two highly motivated drivers, and we know we can count on the support of all our Tifosi,” says Vasseur with determination, adding: “Our aim is to continue in the same direction and work well right from the start to put ourselves in the best possible position for qualifying and the race.”
