Fernando Alonso is staying on! He’ll be on the grid with Aston Martin-Honda again in 2027

The decision has been made: superstar Fernando Alonso is staying in Formula 1; he has extended his contract by one year, so he will neither be retiring from the premier class nor moving to another motorsport category.

The Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team states: “We are delighted to confirm that Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso will continue to race for the team after extending their long-term contracts.”

Fernando Alonso: “I took my time over this decision, but racing is my life and my passion; I know that I still have the pace and the determination to compete at the very highest level. I am committed to this team for the long term and want to help ensure our success. I firmly believe in what we are building here: we have strong leadership, a great team, partners and first-class facilities.
