Live ticker: Belgian Grand Prix – Can Kimi Antonelli defend his lead?

Kimi Antonelli secured the best starting position for the Grand Prix at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps during Saturday’s qualifying session. The fast Mercedes driver, who leads the World Championship by 25 points ahead of his team-mate George Russell, secured pole position with an impressive lap on the historic Belgian circuit.

Max Verstappen was more than three tenths of a second slower than the Mercedes hopeful on his fastest qualifying lap. The Red Bull Racing star and three-time Belgian Grand Prix winner will start from the front row alongside the pole-setter from Bologna. And the chances are good that he’ll be able to get past the Mercedes driver on the first lap.

Antonelli is well aware of this too, noting after qualifying: “I just need to get off to a good start and make sure I stay in front until the fifth corner.” Verstappen himself announced: “I’ll obviously try to put up as much of a fight as possible in the Grand Prix.” Whether he succeeds and who will ultimately cross the finish line first can be followed live here on the SPEEDWEEK.com live ticker.
