Major shake-up at Cadillac: Marcin Budkowski takes over from Lowdon

Marcin Budkowski has now been a fixture in the Formula 1 paddock for more than two decades, and Cadillac’s new team principal has a wealth of experience to his name. The engineer, who is of Polish and French origin, not only has the necessary management background but also the technical expertise he has acquired over the years at Prost, Ferrari, McLaren, the FIA and Renault (or Alpine).

He has worked for several organisations, holding roles in engineering, sport and management, and has helped shape the direction of Formula 1 through his leadership roles in various teams and at the world motorsport governing body. Cadillac F1 CEO Dan Towriss is therefore full of praise for the new recruit.

Farewell to Graeme Lowdon

The American explains: “Marcin’s appointment is another important step in the ongoing development of the Cadillac team. From the very beginning, our aim has been not simply to compete in Formula 1, but to build a next-generation team capable of competing at the very front of the field.”

“As we embark on this new era for the Cadillac team, Marcin brings exceptional Formula 1 experience, technical expertise and strategic leadership skills that will strengthen our organisation and help us develop the winning mentality, resources and processes required for long-term success,” the 54-year-old is certain.

Budkowski takes over from Graeme Lowdon, who is leaving the team. “We are grateful to Graeme Lowdon for his leadership and the contribution he has made in building the Cadillac team from the ground up,” says Towriss. “His input has helped to lay a strong foundation during our development phase, and we thank him for his commitment and wish him all the best.”

Budkowski will be in action as early as Zandvoort

Budkowski himself says: “The Cadillac team has an exceptional foundation and great ambitions.
