Nico Hülkenberg (Audi/13th): “The new Madring is like a rollercoaster”

If Audi gets everything right at the new Madring circuit in Madrid, the Germans could be in with a chance of scoring World Championship points at the Spanish Grand Prix.

The highlight came from Nico Hülkenberg in the first practice session, finishing 9th; as is usually the case, the gaps in the midfield are minuscule.

Nico Hülkenberg had this to say about the new circuit at Madrid’s IFEMA exhibition centre: “It was a fascinating first day. We had a lot to explore and a lot to learn, and the new circuit is unique.”

“It’s blisteringly fast; it feels as if you’re on a rollercoaster. You have virtually no room for error, so you’re wide awake and on your guard for the entire lap.”

“We got plenty of driving in, and on Friday night we pored over the data to see where we can improve for the third practice session and then for qualifying.”
