Red Bull Racing driver Isack Hadjar: “As a racer, you live for that sound”

Isack Hadjar was also putting his foot down during the race-free weekend: as part of the ‘Goodwood Festival of Speed’, he took to the track in two fast cars – and was thrilled. Now the World Championship round at Spa is coming up.

This year’s edition of the famous ‘Goodwood Festival of Speed’ was once again graced by the presence of many stars from the Formula One circuit. The Red Bull Racing Team was also in attendance, bringing a whole host of cars to the gathering of motorsport enthusiasts. And with Isack Hadjar, Yuki Tsunoda and Academy driver Alisha Palmowski, several drivers were also present.

Among other things, they were given the chance to take the wheel of the RB17 Supersport car – the hypercar designed by design genius Adrian Newey. Although Newey is now working on the drawing board for the Aston Martin team, he was still one of the lucky few who got to drive the Supersport car.

Hadjar, who also put his foot down in the 2013 RB9, enthuses in retrospect: “I spent last weekend at Goodwood, where I was allowed to drive the RB17 and the RB9. As a racer, you live for the sound of these cars; it was pretty cool to be there.”

Next up is the race weekend at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, before the series moves on to the Hungaroring, where the final showdown before the Formula 1 summer break will take place. “I know that the team and I will give it our all to score some really good points once more before the break. So far, my performance in the European races has been consistent, and that’s not going to change now,” the Frenchman announces defiantly.

Speaking about the historic Belgian circuit, the 21-year-old Red Bull Racing star says: “Spa is a classic, and even though driving there this year will be different from in the past due to the new regulations, I’m looking forward to the challenge. The track characteristics are similar to those at Silverstone, so we don’t expect to be right at the front. But I hope we can put the lessons from Silverstone into practice and take a step forward.”
