Will Max Verstappen still be racing in F1 in 10 years’ time? Here’s what his father Jos expects

The four-time champion has proven on several occasions that Max Verstappen enjoys racing even outside the Formula 1 World Championship. There is ongoing debate about how much longer he will remain in the top flight. Ultimately, the Red Bull Racing star has made it clear: however much he loves Formula 1, he will turn his back on the sport should it take a wrong turn.

Max has also emphasised on several occasions that he does not intend to follow Fernando Alonso’s example and compete in the World Championship when he is over 40. That is why many are wondering how much longer the 28-year-old will continue to compete in the Grand Prix circuit. Will Verstappen still be on the starting grid in ten years’ time? If his father Jos – who himself once competed as a Formula 1 driver – is anything to go by, the answer to this question is clear.

“I don’t think he’ll still be racing in Formula 1. And I hope that by then he’ll have secured a victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. But that’s not so easy these days; because of the Balance of Performance, the field is very closely matched. We’ll see – it’s certainly going to be a challenge. And I’m sure he’ll still be racing by then, just not in Formula 1,” explained the 54-year-old Dutchman in an interview with *AutoHebdo*.

Jos Verstappen was also full of praise for his son: “As a person, he’s a great bloke; he has a wonderful character. He’s very down-to-earth and honest. He’s everything you could wish for in a son. I’m really proud of him. As a driver, he’s exceeded all expectations. And with the right car, he can certainly win even more world championship titles. It all depends on the car he’s given.”
