Williams star Alex Albon: Late start to the Monza race weekend

It has been quite some time since Alex Albon last scored points. The Williams driver crossed the finish line in eighth place at the classic Monte Carlo Grand Prix, picking up four championship points. It was his best Grand Prix result since last year’s Italian Grand Prix. He finished seventh at the high-speed Monza circuit last season.

This year, Albon will head into the race weekend at the Royal Park with a bit of a burden, as he must hand over the wheel of his race car to rising star Luke Browning. The Williams reserve driver will be taking part in an official Formula 1 session for the second time this year. The Briton has already driven the FW48 at the Red Bull Ring, where he stood in for Carlos Sainz.

Browning, who is making his sixth FP1 appearance of his career, will not only be adding to his wealth of Formula 1 experience, but will also be gathering important data that will be useful for setting up the simulator.

Speaking about his upcoming outing in Italy, the 30-year-old said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have another chance to take part in a free practice session with the Williams team. It’s a fantastic opportunity to complete some valuable laps in the FW48, deepen my understanding of the car and help provide useful data and feedback back to the factory in Grove.”
