Latest performance checkpoint: Yamaha’s rev limit reduced

For the final time in the 2026 Euro Moto season, the cards will be reshuffled following another checkpoint. At the last checkpoint, ahead of the races at Assen, Ducati’s run of four consecutive victories came to an end. Since then, Lukas Tulovic and Lorenzo Zanetti have lost 500 laps and will remain so for the finale. The decision was once again taken by the Euro Moto Safety/Technical/Sporting Commission (CSTS), comprising Max von Saurma (MPS), Karsten Bartschat (MPS Technical), Fabian Schuster (ADAC), Max Kumpf (Chairman of the Sporting Commission), Jörg Raboldt (Chairman of the Technical Commission) and Stefan Beck (Chairman of the CSTS/Race Director). Following the conclusion of Event 6 at the Nürburgring, the third performance checkpoint of the 2026 season has been reached in accordance with the Euro Moto technical regulations. The performance points were calculated in accordance with the prescribed system, based on the best-placed motorcycle of each make in each dry race. The aim of this assessment is the ongoing monitoring of the competitiveness of the individual manufacturers as a basis for the work of the CSTS.

After every four races held in dry conditions, an analysis of the performance points (Performance Checkpoint) is carried out, which generally results in three checkpoints per season. If a manufacturer demonstrates over-performance by achieving a lead of at least nine performance points, the CSTS will take appropriate measures. Motorcycle models fitted with concession parts may have those parts withdrawn and/or their engine speed reduced, whilst motorcycle models without available concession parts, such as Ducati, will have their engine speed reduced. The scope of the measures depends on the extent of the overperformance.

Motorcycle models that are at least 24 performance points behind the model with the most performance points at the performance checkpoint may, following analysis by the CSTS, be granted permission to use concession parts. Or they may have their original revs reinstated. With Yamaha currently holding a 10-performance-point lead and Honda trailing by 24 performance points, things are starting to shift.

Current adjustments

Yamaha motorcycles are granted a maximum permitted revs limit of 14,500 revs. This represents a reduction of 300 revs compared with the motorcycle’s actual operating revs.

For Honda motorbikes, the use of the kit camshaft set – the specifications of which are defined in the current version of the Eligible Parts List – has been authorised.
