Marcel Schrötter isn’t giving up yet in the Euro Moto title race

Marcel Schrötter will be out on a racing bike for no fewer than six days this week. Following an initial preparatory test for the final round of the World Endurance Championship, he raced straight from the south of France to the Eifel, where the penultimate round of the Euro Moto 2026 season is taking place this weekend.

The 33-year-old Marcel Schrötter is competing in two championships this year. That is why he first travelled to the south of France for an appointment with his ERC Endurance Team. The aim was to begin preparations for the Bol d’Or, taking place in two weeks’ time at Le Castellet – the finale of the 2026 FIM Endurance World Championship, which is also the second 24-hour race in the series.

Catching up

The second focus for the experienced rider from Upper Bavaria is the Euro Moto Superbike, which was known as the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM) until last year. With the race at the Nürburgring, the championship is entering its decisive phase. Schrötter is currently second in the overall standings, 46.5 points behind last year’s champion, Lukas Tulovic.

In the four remaining races, the BMW rider intends to give his all right up to the very last corner in the still-possible title chase. To prevent Tulovic from clinching the title early at the Nürburgring, Schrötter has no choice but to aim for victory. Despite a packed schedule, combined with a hectic journey to the Eifel, Schrötter is pleased that he and his team, GERT56 by RS Speedbikes, have an extra day of testing available today, Thursday, after he found himself lacking a bit of pace at Assen recently.

A short night at the Nürburgring

“It’s been an intense week so far in the run-up to the penultimate Euro Moto race weekend, as we had a pre-test for the Bol d’Or on Tuesday and Wednesday, which went very well,” reported the BMW rider. “We were able to gain valuable insights, and every one of us was very quick on the track. And, more importantly, we finished the test without any crashes. The last two days were therefore excellent preparation for the final endurance race of the season. But it’s straight back into action, as the Nürburgring weekend begins as early as Thursday with a test day, just like in Brno.”

“Even though I had a short night due to the journey, I’m really looking forward to it, because this opportunity to test with the Euro Moto Superbike comes at exactly the right time, as we’ve been struggling a bit more recently,” said Schrötter. “However, we gathered lots of ideas recently at Assen that we can try out during the test sessions. That’s why I’m looking forward to getting started as early as Thursday, so that we can hopefully take another step forward. Then it’s straight on to the penultimate race weekend of the season, where we hope to be a bit more competitive again so that we can play a stronger part in the battle for podium places or even victories.”
