Schröter’s title chances are limited, but his motto is: “Full attack”

For Marcel Schrötter, a more than eventful racing season is drawing to a close this weekend at the historic circuit in Baden-Württemberg, where Round 7 – and thus the Euro Moto finale – is on the programme. Schrötter arrives at the Hockenheimring currently sitting second in the overall standings, 34.5 points behind the leader and defending champion Lukas Tulovic (Ducati). The BMW rider knows exactly what he needs to do to end the season with a bang. The 33-year-old and his team, GERT56 by RS Speebikes, have their sights set on two race wins and are hoping that as many riders as possible will be between him and Tulovic when they cross the finish line.

At the penultimate round of the Euro Moto Superbike earlier this month at the Nürburgring, Schrötter finished second twice, ahead of his closest rival in the battle for the championship crown.

“Until I set off for Hockenheim, I tried to recover as best I could from last weekend’s 24-hour race,” says Schrötter, describing the last few days. “But I’m also really looking forward to Hockenheim. As far as the circuit layout is concerned, it’s going to be exciting for me once again. It’s been a very long time since I last raced there. At least I was able to familiarise myself with the track a little again two months ago as a coach at a Hafeneger racing training session. It was definitely not a bad idea to do a few laps, even though I was a long way off proper race pace. Besides, I was riding production bikes. But it was certainly helpful to get a feel for the track again.”

“But this weekend, another challenge certainly awaits me, and I’m really looking forward to it,” he assures us. “I’m also delighted that my family, lots of sponsors and friends will be coming to cheer me on. I hope we can all enjoy a brilliant season finale and have lots of fun. As for me, I want to enjoy it to the full, especially on the track. My aim is clear: to win twice on Sunday. And then we’ll see how it all turns out in the end. So I’m looking forward to the final race weekend and am very excited to see how the season ends.”
