Standings in the Euro Moto Superbike class must be recalculated following a DMSB ruling

On the Monday before the meeting at the Nürburgring, a video conference had taken place between the parties involved and the DMSB’s legal department regarding the appeal lodged by GERT56 by RS Speedbike rider Marcel Schrötter against the penalty imposed at the Euro Moto race in Most. Marcel Schrötter was required to explain himself, and Lukas Tulovic was also obliged to give evidence as a witness. “It was a strange feeling,” he said afterwards.

According to euromoto.racing, the protest decision of 28 June 2026 has been overturned. Marcel Schrötter has been reinstated to third place, which had been stripped from him following the first Euro Moto Superbike race at Most. In the first race, contact occurred with Lukas Tulovic (Triple M Ducati Racing Frankfurt) on the second lap. Schrötter (GERT56 by RS Speedbikes) failed to hold his line, took the escape route, cut across the chicane and rejoined the race behind Tulovic.

The ruling in its original wording

The DMSB ruling states: ‘At the start of the second lap of the first race, at the end of the start-finish straight, the appellant took the “emergency exit” at Turn 1 and returned to the track at Turn 3. According to the regulations, in order not to gain an advantage by taking a shortcut, the rider must slow down by one second in the first sector of the circuit. Schrötter finished the race in third place. The Apreco-Yamaha team, led by rider Twan Smits, lodged a protest, alleging that Schrötter had failed to comply with the rules. The race was already too far advanced for a long-lap penalty. Schrötter was instead given a three-second penalty. As a result, he dropped two places in the standings. The GERT56 by RS Speedbikes team lodged an appeal against the stewards’ decision.

The appellant, Schrötter, justified the appeal by stating that there had been contact with the witness at the end of the start-finish straight, as a result of which he was forced to take the emergency exit. Consequently, he had not taken the emergency exit to gain an advantage. For this reason, a long-lap penalty should not have been imposed on him during the race, meaning that the three-second time penalty was unlawful.

Schrötter’s innocence proven

‘As was established beyond doubt by the race footage and the witness’s statement, the appellant was forced to take the emergency exit to prevent a crash and as a result of the contact with the witness. The time penalty imposed under Article 14.3 of the regulations was therefore unjustified, as a long-lap penalty should not have been imposed on the appellant during the race.”

No ruling has yet been made in the case of GERT56 against Florian Alt’s Team HRP, which lodged an appeal. The points standings therefore remain uncertain.
