Official: Gonzalez & Almansa to challenge for the Moto2 title with Intact in 2027

The line-up for the only German-speaking Grand Prix team for the 2027 Moto2 season has been finalised. Ahead of the Grand Prix races at the Red Bull Ring, Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP confirmed Manuel Gonzalez and David Almansa as riders on the Kalex bikes.

For a long time, there were strong indications that the team management would have to completely restructure for 2027, as both Manuel Gonzalez and Senna Agius were regarded as having made the step up to the premier class. This situation caused team boss Jürgen Lingg little concern, as with David Muñoz and David Almansa, the team had no fewer than two race-winners already in its own Moto3 line-up. Nevertheless, Lingg always emphasised: “Senna and Manuel are always welcome to ride for us. Should one of them not make the step up, they are guaranteed a contract with us.”

And that is exactly what happened in Manuel Gonzalez’s case. The Spaniard came away empty-handed in terms of a MotoGP contract, just as he did in 2025 – and is now making the best of a bad situation. Manuel Gonzalez will contest a third Moto2 season with Intact-GP.

Jürgen Lingg said at the announcement: “We’re really delighted with our Moto2 rider line-up for 2027. With Manu, we’re backing a rider whose potential we recognised right from the start. From the very first moment, he impressed us with his strength and fighting spirit. Last year, he battled with us for the title right up to the season finale, and this year he’s gone one better: he currently leads the World Championship by a comfortable margin. We’re excited to see what else we can achieve, and we’re proud to continue on this path with him.”

The reaction from World Championship leader and Intact family member Gonzalez: “I’m absolutely delighted to extend my contract with the Intact GP Team, as I’m currently in the best possible situation of my career and I’m firmly convinced that this team is the best in the Moto2 class. So I’m really looking forward to continuing to work with them, growing and improving together, and enjoying the races together. I also want to try to achieve our goals and hopefully build on this season’s performances. I’m very grateful to Jürgen, Stefan and Wolfgang for giving me this opportunity once again and for believing in me.”

In the internal selection process for the second rider, the choice fell on David Almansa, who is currently second in the Moto3 World Championship. The Spaniard only joined Intact GP at the start of the 2026 season – and has exceeded all expectations. Now they are embarking on the Moto2 project together.

Moto2 mastermind Lingg on his in-house promotion: “With David, we’re also turning a new page. He only joined our Moto3 team this year and has impressed us with his performance right from the start. The fact that we’re now taking the next step into Moto2 with him after just one season actually says a lot. He’s currently second overall in the championship and has shown this year just how much potential he has, and we’re convinced that he’ll make his mark in Moto2 too.”
