Unlucky Buchanan will be replaced by a familiar face at Misano

Cormac Buchanan suffered a broken right ankle in his crash during the Moto3 race at Aragon. He subsequently underwent surgery in Barcelona. He is currently working hard and with great determination on his recovery. It is currently unclear when the 20-year-old will be able to get back on his KTM. However, his return is likely to take some time.

It was clear that this weekend’s San Marino Grand Prix would come too soon for the New Zealander. On Thursday, the Boe Motorsports team announced that Buchanan would be replaced by Marcos Uriarte at Misano.

Marcos Uriarte: four race appearances for Intact GP in 2026

Uriarte will not be competing in his first Moto3 race weekend of the year at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. The 21-year-old Spaniard has already stood in for David Munoz and David Almansa respectively for the German team Intact GP at Austin, Brno, Assen and the Sachsenring. In his four appearances, he finished in the points twice (Austin and Brno).

As far as the bike is concerned, Uriarte won’t have to make any changes. Both Intact GP and Boe Motorsports race KTMs in the Moto3 World Championship.
