2027 MotoGP line-up: The picture is becoming clearer – where it’s still a bit hazy

Günther Steiner’s Tech3 team announced this week that it had signed MotoGP veteran Luca Marini for 2027. Valentino Rossi’s VR46 team has signed youngster Fermin Aldeguer for 2027 and 2028. And Izan Guevara will move up to MotoGP next year within the Pramac Yamaha structure. SPEEDWEEK.com provides an overview of which rider contracts have been finalised and which are still not official. The fact is: manufacturers and teams have so far confirmed 18 out of 22 riders.

Ducati Lenovo for 2027 and 2028 with Marc Marquez and Pedro Acosta (both confirmed)

Champion Marc Marquez extended his contract by two years in June this year. His new team-mate for 2027 and 2028 will be Pedro Acosta. Pecco Bagnaia was officially bid farewell at the end of June.

Aprilia Racing: Marco Bezzecchi and Pecco Bagnaia (both confirmed)

Pecco Bagnaia’s future has long been secured – the Italian will be riding an Aprilia RS-GP for the next four years. Bagnaia’s team-mate – for at least 2027 and 2028 – is his VR46 mate Marco Bezzecchi.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing: Alex Márquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio (both confirmed)

The KTM works team is revamping its rider line-up with Alex Márquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio. For the two Ducati satellite riders, 2027 will see their dream of riding for a works team come true.

Honda HRC Castrol: Fabio Quartararo (confirmed) and Diogo Moreira or David Alonso (not yet confirmed)

Honda’s factory team will also be fielding new riders next year. Fabio Quartararo is set to move from Yamaha to their Japanese rivals. His team-mate will be either David Alonso (HRC has already announced the MotoGP deal with the 2024 Moto3 World Champion) or Diogo Moreira. Based on his performances in his rookie season, Honda could promote the Brazilian from LCR to the factory team.

Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP: Ai Ogura and Jorge Martín (both confirmed)

The Yamaha factory team’s rider line-up for 2027 will consist of the Japanese rider Ai Ogura and the Spaniard Jorge Martin. For Ogura, this will be his first time in a factory team, whilst Martin is embarking on a new project.

Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team: Fermin Aldeguer (confirmed) and Nicolo Bulega (not confirmed)

Fermin Aldeguer will continue to ride a Ducati in 2027 and 2028 – though no longer for Gresini Racing, but for Valentino Rossi’s VR46 Racing Team. Official confirmation came this week. His team-mate there will be Superbike series winner Nicolo Bulega.

BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP: Joan Mir and Daniel Holgado (both confirmed)

With runner-up Alex Marquez and Fermin Aldeguer set to leave Gresini Racing at the end of the year, the Italian team must also rebuild its line-up for 2027. Joan Mir, the 2020 MotoGP World Champion, will join Gresini next year. His team-mate will be Moto2 ace Daniel Holgado.

Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP: Toprak Razgatlioglu and Izan Guevara (both confirmed)

Toprak Razgatlioglu has also signed a contract with Pramac Yamaha for 2027. His team-mate next year will be Izan Guevara. The young Spaniard has been performing strongly in this year’s Moto2 World Championship and is currently second in the overall standings. An internal promotion for Guevara within the Yamaha structure was the obvious choice, not least to underpin the credibility of the talent development programme.

Superfile Trackhouse MotoGP Team: Raul Fernandez and Enea Bastianini (both confirmed)

Aprilia rider Raul Fernandez is putting in strong performances in the 2026 MotoGP season. The Spaniard will continue with Justin Marks’ US-based Trackhouse team in 2027 and 2028. His team-mate will be the Italian Enea Bastianini.

LCR Honda: Johann Zarco (confirmed) and Diogo Moreira or David Alonso (not yet confirmed)

The rider line-up for the LCR Honda team is effectively set in stone. The long-established team will once again be relying on the services of veteran Johann Zarco in 2027. Diogo Moreira is also considered a certainty, unless the youngster is promoted to the Honda works team next year. Given his strong performances, that would be a likely scenario. In return, David Alonso would be transferred to the LCR team.

Red Bull KTM Tech3: Luca Marini (confirmed) and Senna Agius? (not yet confirmed)

Luca Marini will race for KTM Tech3 in 2027. Alongside the experienced Italian, team boss Günther Steiner is looking to sign a rookie. The Australian Senna Agius from Jürgen Lingg’s Moto2 Intact team appears to be the frontrunner.
