Brad Binder on his departure from KTM: “I’m going to miss my crew”

It wasn’t just the Madrid Formula 1 Grand Prix – held again for the first time – that was a major topic of discussion at Hangar-7 on Monday; the focus was also on the MotoGP World Championship, which will be making a stop at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg this coming weekend.

Guests included KTM racing director Pit Beirer, as well as MotoGP stars Alex Márquez (Ducati Gresini) and Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM). Márquez and Binder also took part in a go-kart race against Hans-Joachim Stuck and Patrick Friesacher.

Speaking of Spielberg: in 2021, Brad Binder won the chaotic race on a wet track with a daring feat on slick tyres. “I’ve talked more about this race than any other. Winning here at the Red Bull Ring for KTM was one of my highlights,” recalled the future BMW Superbike rider.

Brad Binder: “Unfortunately, all good things come to an end”

Does KTM have a good chance at Spielberg again this year? “I hope so; it’s a track that’s tailor-made for me and also suits our bike,” said Binder. “I like the hard braking. I think it suits us really well. I’d love to get our bike right up the front.”

The South African continued: “Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. My next adventure is the Superbike World Championship. I’m really looking forward to it. Everything will be new – a new bike, new tracks and new tyres. But I’ll miss my crew. I’m still looking forward to a strong finish to the season.”
