Pit Beirer (KTM), relieved: “We needed this weekend!”

Pedro Acosta is the rider delivering the top results for KTM in the 2026 MotoGP season. At Aragon, too, the young Spaniard was the fastest man on the RC16 – he finished the Sprint in 4th place and came second behind Marc Márquez (Ducati). Acosta was delighted, as his podium finish at his home Grand Prix brought an end to a long dry spell for both KTM and himself. His last top-three result had come in Hungary at the start of June.

A few days after the Aragon GP, KTM’s Head of Racing, Pit Beirer, took to his LinkedIn account to reflect on the successful race weekend in Spain.

“We really needed this weekend!” said the German. “For everyone at Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, Pedro Acosta’s second place in Aragon felt like a reward for months of tireless work behind the scenes. Racing is never a straight path. You experience highs, lows, setbacks and breakthroughs. What matters is staying true to the process and trusting the people around you.”

Beirer praised Acosta’s fighting spirit; in the end, he was beaten by 1.754 seconds in the MM93 Grand Prix. He finished 1.875 seconds ahead of Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia), who came third. Beirer also paid tribute to the performances of the other KTM riders. Tech3 ace Enea Bastianini, for example, put in a strong performance to finish eighth in the Grand Prix. “Pedro’s battle at the front, Enea’s strong comeback, Brad’s return after setbacks and Pol’s tireless effort perfectly reflected the team spirit,” emphasised Beirer. “Seeing orange back on the MotoGP podium reminds us why we do what we do. We’re proud of the whole team. And hungry for more.”

The action continues next week at Misano. There, and at the remaining Grands Prix this year, the KTM aces will once again give it their all before the Austrian manufacturer makes a fresh start in 2027 with four new regular riders and an 850cc bike.
