Markus Schlosser looking ahead to 2027: Chassis change not ruled out
Even though there are still two races left this season at Oschersleben, Markus Schlosser is already thinking about what the future holds. A chassis change seems very likely.

Markus Schlosser/Lucas Krieg (Gustoil Sidecar Racing) head into the final two races of the Sidecar World Championship in fourth place. With a deficit of 69.5 points, an improvement in the final standings is highly unlikely, and they are unlikely to be overtaken from behind either, as the fifth-placed riders are 31.5 points adrift.
Nevertheless, the ambitious Swiss rider is keen to finish the season on a high note, which is why the set-up on his LCR Yamaha was tweaked once again ahead of the Sidecar Festival in Oschersleben. “We’re constantly tinkering,” says the 2021 world champion, referring to the fact that he is not satisfied with the handling of his sidecar this year.
However, these problems could soon be a thing of the past, as Schlosser is already thinking one step ahead. “I’ll be heading to Spain later this year. Whilst there, I’ll take the opportunity to put the R&R chassis – which my partner’s son races in the International Sidecar Trophy – through its paces.”
Last year’s World Championship runner-up is convinced by the R&R concept: “The project is right on the cutting edge. All parameters are recorded electronically. If you make a change to the chassis, you can immediately compare the figures and draw your conclusions. Unfortunately, that isn’t possible at the moment.”
“If the test runs go according to plan, then I will very likely be competing on an R&R next year,” says Schlosser, who secured nine of his 24 World Championship race victories in 2024 and 2025 and, contrary to his high expectations, has yet to secure a podium finish this year, convinced that this will put him back on the road to victory.
