Speedway World Cup: Will Poland pull off a fourth consecutive victory?

Over the past two years, the British and Australians have triumphed at the Speedway of Nations, in Manchester in 2024 and in Thorn (Torun) in 2025. Whilst Poland has not yet secured a gold medal in this competition, the Polish team has, however, dominated the Speedway World Cup. They have won a total of nine gold medals in this competition, most recently three in a row.

This coming Saturday presents the chance to claim a fifth title in a row. The venue for this is the PGE Narodowy, the Polish national stadium in Warsaw, where – as is customary for the Polish Grand Prix – a speedway track will be installed and which will accommodate over 50,000 spectators.

As hosts, the Poles are automatically qualified for the final, as are the Australians, who triumphed at last year’s Speedway of Nations, whilst the British and Danes first had to qualify via the semi-finals in Landshut and Riga. The Poles will field their four Grand Prix riders: Bartosz Zmarzlik, Dominik Kubera, Patryk Dudek and Kacper Woryna. Rounding out the line-up as the fifth rider is none other than Maciej Janowski, the Polish champion.

The hosts have therefore opted for established riders in their team selection, as have the Danes, who are fielding the same team that triumphed in the semi-finals in Riga. The British and Australian teams, on the other hand, are without their top riders due to injury. The British are without Dan Bewley, whilst the Australians are missing the injured Jack Holder.

The World Cup showdown between Denmark, Poland, Great Britain and Australia, in the classic four-team format, will once again be streamed live on Discovery+ on Saturday from 6.40 pm, with German commentary by Norbert Ockenga and English commentary by Kelvin Tatum. Unlike the Speedway Grand Prix broadcasts, this one will be without his usual co-commentator, Oliver Allen, as he is in Warsaw acting as team manager for the Great Britain national team.
