With entrants from Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania and South America, the provisional entry list features a record-breaking eight GT3 manufacturers: alongside Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche, Aston Martin is also returning to Macau.
The entry list features numerous FIA GT World Cup winners as well as internationally renowned GT racing drivers. Two-time FIA GT World Cup winner Maro Engel returns to Macau alongside the 2018 winner, Augusto Farfus, whilst Raffaele Marciello, another two-time winner, has also entered the race.
They are joined by FIA WEC and IMSA champion Earl Bamber, Aston Martin’s regular driver Marco Sørensen, Porsche works driver Thomas Preining, BMW ace Kelvin van der Linde and Ferrari star Yifei Ye, who further enhance the field of competitors.
Porsche is the most heavily represented manufacturer on the starting grid with four cars, whilst BMW and Mercedes-AMG are each fielding three cars. Aston Martin, Audi and Ferrari are each represented by two cars, alongside individual entries from teams fielding Lamborghini and McLaren cars, which underlines the strength and diversity of the competition.
The starting grid also features a mix of established international competitors and leading regional specialists. Drivers such as Dorian Boccolacci, Luca Engstler, Joel Eriksson, Adderly Fong, Alessio Picariello and Alessio Rovera bring extensive experience from GT and endurance racing around the world, ensuring a top-class battle across the entire field.
The FIA GT World Cup has become one of the highlights of the annual ‘Macau Grand Prix’ motorsport festival, combining top-class GT3 cars with one of the most demanding street circuits in international motorsport. The tight chicanes, high-speed straights and unforgiving crash barriers of the Guia Circuit have produced some of the most memorable races in GT racing, where precision, determination and courage are rewarded in equal measure.
With a field packed with works-backed talent, championship winners and rising stars, the stage is set for another thrilling edition of the FIA GT World Cup – the ninth in total – in which the world’s best GT drivers are preparing to battle for victory on the streets of Macau, whilst also celebrating the 20th anniversary of the FIA’s GT3 category.
Lutz Leif Linden, President of the FIA GT Commission, says: “As GT3 celebrates its 20th anniversary, the FIA GT World Cup, with eight participating manufacturers, remains the category’s ultimate showcase. The Macau Grand Prix occupies a unique place in the global motorsport calendar, combining one of the world’s most demanding circuits with a strong presence in a region of immense importance to premium manufacturers and their legendary GT models. The strength of this year’s field of entrants underlines both the success of the GT3 platform and the enduring appeal of competing for FIA World Cup honours on the streets of Macau – an event that, year after year, attracts a top-class line-up of drivers from the world of GT and endurance racing to a truly unique GT3 sprint race.”
