Lucie Boudesseul: Further surgery required, WorldWCR 2026 season over

Two crashes at Portimão and Assen marred Lucie Boudesseul’s WorldWCR 2026 campaign, but on those same weekends the speedy Frenchwoman proved she is among the most talented competitors with a fourth and a third-place finish. Following the round at the Balaton Park Circuit, Boudesseul finished seventh.

The Women’s World Championship then went on a six-week break, and the 19-year-old used the time away from racing to make a guest appearance in the French Championship at Nogaro at the end of May. There, Boudesseul suffered such an unfortunate crash that she sustained several fractures. In addition to a fracture to her left foot, a spinal injury meant a long lay-off. It was unlikely that a comeback would be possible this year, but it was not entirely out of the question either.

The situation is now clear. On 21 September, Boudesseul will undergo further surgery to remove all the metal implants used to stabilise the fractures. There is not enough time before the season finale in Jerez (16 to 18 October) for a full recovery.

“Things are actually going quite well,” said the teenager during her visit to the Superbike World Championship at Magny-Cours. “I’m quite satisfied because I can feel the progress. My strength is returning and my general condition is improving step by step. I’m already feeling quite good, and I’m very pleased about that. However, I won’t be able to compete at Jerez because I’m due to have another operation at the end of September. After that, the bones will need a while to heal again. So, unfortunately, this season is over for me – I’ll be back, but not until next year.”

Boudesseul was replaced by Justine Pedemonte at Misano and Donington Park. It’s likely that the teenager will also be fielded by GMT94 at Jerez. Pedemonte achieved her best result to date with a tenth-place finish in the second race at Donington.
