Praise for Lucy Michel at the end of the season: Battling for a top-10 finish in Jerez

“It just goes to show what’s possible when I test beforehand,” said Lucy Michel after the final race of the Women’s World Motorcycle Racing Championship (WorldWCR) in Jerez, in which she equalled her best result of the season.

Lucy Michel finished in the points four times in the twelve races of the 2026 Women’s World Championship: 13th at Assen, 12th at Donington Park, and 15th and 12th at the finale in Jerez de la Frontera. This brings her total to 12 points, putting her 19th in the World Championship standings.

In the second race, a top-10 finish was within touching distance: Astrid Madrigal, Emely Bondi and Michel crossed the finish line within half a second of one another. Lucy was beaming from ear to ear when speaking to SPEEDWEEK.com, even though she couldn’t quite catch the other two – 12th place is a strong way to end the season. “It went back and forth; because of the battles, I lost a bit of momentum in one corner, so in the end it wasn’t possible,” explained the 21-year-old. “Everyone tries to block the inside line in the final corner, but we’re satisfied.”

Lucy Michel: Praise from the TSL boss

“She did well,” added TSL boss Stefan Laux. Remarkably, Michel’s fastest lap in the race was over half a second faster than her qualifying time, which highlights the progress she made over the weekend.

“We were here testing two weeks ago; it makes a big difference if you’ve been on the bike beforehand,” explained Lucy. “It just goes to show what’s possible when you test on the tracks beforehand.”

It remains to be seen whether Lucy Michel will continue in the Women’s World Championship next year – the determination is certainly there. However, there will be new standardised bikes from CF Moto instead of Yamaha, and Michelin will replace Pirelli as the tyre supplier. The budget also needs to be secured first. “I’ll definitely be continuing to build up my fitness, doing strength training and riding my motorbike over the winter,” promises the only German-speaking competitor in this year’s WorldWCR.

The race was won by 19-year-old Spaniard Paola Ramos, who thereby also secured the World Championship bronze medal. Joining her on the podium were the World Championship runner-up and fellow Spaniard Beatriz Neila, as well as England’s Chloe Jones. Champion Maria Herrera finished fourth.
