50 Years of Suzuki Germany: Special Editions of the GSX-8S and GSX-S1000

This year, Suzuki Germany is celebrating its golden anniversary, as Suzuki Motor GmbH Germany was founded and entered in the commercial register in 1976. The motorbikes available at that time were the GS 400 and GS 750, which were the first in Suzuki’s history to be fitted with four-stroke engines. Today, the company is known as Suzuki Deutschland GmbH.

The 50th anniversary is being celebrated with two limited-edition naked bikes, based on the GSX-8S and the GSX-S1000. The recommended retail price is €9,890 for the GSX-8S Special Edition and €14,290 for the GSX-S1000 Special Edition.

The retro design is intended to bridge the gap between then and now. On the GSX-8S, the specification includes a matching graphics kit, a passenger cover and a front spoiler. The GSX-S1000 also comes with the decal kit, as well as a passenger cover, a windscreen and rim trim on the front and rear wheels. Technically, the motorbikes are identical to the standard models.

GSX-8S – the naked bike suitable for everyday use

The mid-range series, which Suzuki has been offering since 2023, features a 776 cc in-line twin-cylinder engine that delivers 83 PS (61 kW) and, thanks to its 270-degree crankshaft, excels with its broad usable rev range and power delivery suited to everyday use. The innovative cross-balancer ensures a smooth and pleasant ride. An A2 version is available for beginners.

The combination of low weight (202 kilograms), low seat height (810 millimetres) and high-quality chassis makes the GSX-8S a naked bike that is as accessible as it is agile. As standard, the GSX-8S comes with a comprehensive equipment package that includes a bidirectional quick-shifter, three riding modes, three-stage traction control (which can be deactivated), ride-by-wire, Low-RPM Assist and Easy Start, as well as a modern 5-inch colour TFT display.

Suzuki GSX-S1000 – Streetfighter with GSX-R technology

The sportier and significantly more powerful GSX-S1000 is powered by a 999 cc inline four-cylinder engine producing 152 PS (112 kW), which is based on the GSX-R1000 engine but has been tuned to deliver balanced power delivery for road use. Features include three riding modes, traction control, ride-by-wire and a bidirectional quick-shifter.

In keeping with its sporty performance, a braking system comprising 310 mm twin discs and radially mounted four-piston Brembo calipers at the front ensures powerful and controllable deceleration. The fully adjustable 43-mm KYB upside-down fork and the central monoshock, featuring seven-way adjustable spring preload and infinitely variable rebound damping, allow for customisable suspension set-ups.
