Porsche on pole position for the GT World Challenge season finale at Portimão

As usual, qualifying for the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup was held over three segments. Each driver completed one segment, and the average time calculated from the lap times recorded determined the starting grid.

Morris Schuring was the fastest in the first segment in the Boutsen VDS Porsche 911 GT3 R. The Dutchman completed a lap in 1:42.445 minutes.

In the second segment, too, the Boutsen VDS Porsche set the fastest time. Dorian Boccolacci completed a lap in 1:41.856 minutes.

In the third session, Simon Birch set the fastest lap time in the Selected Car Racing Ferrari 296 GT3. The Dane completed the circuit in 1:41.652 minutes.

With a combined lap time of 1:42.071 minutes, the Boutsen VDS Porsche driven by Morris Schuring, Dorian Boccolacci and Alessio Picariello will start from pole position.

The GetSpeed Mercedes-AMG GT3 driven by Ralf Aron, Maximilian Götz and Fabian Schiller follows in second place. The Mercedes-AMG trio were 0.108 seconds off the fastest time.

Ricardo Feller, Thomas Preining and Bastian Buus round off the top three in the Lionspeed GP Porsche 911 GT3 R.

The Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 driven by Ben Barnicoat, Chris Lulham and Max Verstappen could only manage 15th place. The car lacked the pace of the absolute frontrunners in every segment. Max Verstappen was only 14th in his segment, 0.441 seconds behind Simon Birch in the Danish team’s Ferrari.
