Verstappen’s team-mate Isack Hadjar out: The list of injured and ill drivers

What is, for the time being, the last Dutch Grand Prix will take place without Isack Hadjar. The Parisian Red Bull Racing driver sustained a wrist injury whilst training during the summer break. It is not yet clear whether he will have to sit out beyond Zandvoort.

For the driver currently eighth in the World Championship, New Zealander Liam Lawson will take the wheel of the second Red Bull Racing car alongside Max Verstappen in the Netherlands.

This is an unusual turn of events for two reasons: Lawson made his Grand Prix debut here at Zandvoort in 2023, having also sustained a wrist injury during practice for the Dutch Grand Prix. That is how Lawson came to make his debut for Red Bull Racing.

It is also unusual because Lawson is returning to RBR, where he was replaced in 2025 after just two Grand Prix weekends due to a lack of performance. At the time, Lawson was replaced by Yuki Tsunoda, who is now back in action (as Red Bull’s official reserve driver) with the Racing Bulls.

It is not uncommon in Formula 1 for a driver to have to be replaced due to injury or illness, as our list shows.
