There will be plenty of new developments in the FIA WEC for the 2027 season. Ferrari and Peugeot are revamping their hypercars. In addition, two new manufacturers – McLaren and Ford – are joining the top prototype class. But that’s not all, as Aston Martin is also set to give its Valkyrie a slight refresh for the coming season. The car has now been spotted during test drives at Silverstone.
There aren’t many noticeable visual changes. However, the rear end of the 2027 Valkyrie does look slightly different. Participating manufacturers have the option to use a total of five so-called ‘evolution jokers’ by 2027 to improve the car’s performance. It is currently unclear how many of the five ‘jokers’ Aston Martin will utilise for the 2027 package. In fact, any unused ‘jokers’ will lapse after 2027.
The Aston Martin Valkyrie has been competing in the FIA WEC (and also the American IMSA series) since 2025. Like the Toyota GR010 Hybrid, Ferrari 499P and Peugeot 9X8, the car is built to LMH regulations. Whilst Aston Martin mostly found itself in the midfield or at the back of the field during its debut season, the results so far in the 2026 season have been quite encouraging. In the WEC, Tom Gamble and Harry Tincknell, as well as Alex Riberas and Marco Soerensen, each share a Valkyrie. Ross Gunn and Roman de Angelis join them for the endurance races. The latter two form Aston Martin’s regular driver pairing in the IMSA.
