Oschersleben Superpole 1: Leon Orgis (BMW) sets the fastest time

Leon Orgis and Twan Smits both clocked fast times in the 1.24s on their third timed lap, securing the top two places. The top three from each group go through and will then compete in Superpole 2 for the best starting positions.

Toni Finsterbusch had secured third place with a time of 1.25.140 minutes when all eight riders headed back to the pits. Four minutes before the end of the 15-minute short session, Lorenzo Zanetti and Milan Merckelbagh took to the track once more.

Merckelbagh still had some ground to make up, having crashed early in the pre-practice session the previous day. Merckelbagh was only able to use the third free practice session for a brief check on the damp track. He had the track all to himself at that point, as everyone else preferred to stay in their pits given the unfavourable conditions and the prospect of a dry afternoon.

Finsterbusch, Marco Fetz, Jan Mohr and Christoph Beinlich also seized their chance to improve their lap times. Orgis and Smits were confident of their form and saved their energy for Superpole 2, which was due to take place straight afterwards. They were joined by Toni Finsterbusch, who would be facing his GERT56 team-mates Jan-Ole Jähnig and Marcel Schrötter there.

Lorenzo Zanetti suffered a setback, finishing in second-last place with a time of 1:26.014.
