Day 1 after the Euro Moto final: ADAC to organise the IDM from 2027

From the 2027 season onwards, ADAC e.V. will organise the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM). Germany’s premier circuit motorcycling championship was launched in 2026 under the name Euro Moto and will revert to its traditional name, IDM, from next season onwards. The ADAC is taking over the platform from Motor Presse, which is stepping down as promoter of the IDM at its own request. Pirelli will remain the IDM’s exclusive tyre partner in future.

Under the ADAC’s umbrella, the IDM will be reoriented. The focus will be on the targeted promotion of young talent, clear sporting and organisational structures, and the development of a family-friendly motorsport platform. The series is intended to serve as a central development platform and springboard into international motorcycling for young talents.

“We want to strengthen circuit motorcycling in Germany in the long term and provide targeted support for young talent – with the clear aim of re-establishing a stronger international presence in the coming years. In recent years, we have established comprehensive support programmes for young talent and, with the highly successful Motorcycle Grand Prix at the Sachsenring, we organise one of the country’s largest sporting events. With the IDM, we are now taking responsibility for the entire elite of German circuit motorcycling and aim to open up new prospects for both existing participants and up-and-coming talent. Reliable rules and better entry opportunities

The sporting concept retains the Superbike class as the top category. A particular focus is on the Sportbike class, which is to be strengthened as a platform for young talent. Together with the Supersport class, these form the three designated premier classes of the IDM. Clear, comprehensible and consistent technical regulations are intended to make the competition more transparent and give teams greater planning certainty.

Pirelli tyres remain a reliable component of the technical package. Even under the ADAC umbrella, Pirelli will continue to be the IDM’s tyre partner in future and will exclusively supply the three premier classes.

Closer ties with the fans

The IDM is also set to gain new momentum away from the racetrack. In the medium term, there are plans to expand fan activities in the paddock. This is intended to make the championship more appealing to motorsport enthusiasts and families alike.

The 2027 calendar comprises seven events between May and September. Races are planned at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, in Brno and Most in the Czech Republic, at the DEKRA Lausitzring, in Assen in the Netherlands, as well as at the Nürburgring and in Hockenheim.
