Special edition for tough terrain: KTM launches the 300 EXC Hard Enduro for 2027

Spectacular riding skills, at times just centimetres away from the spectators, and starting grids where professionals can compete against amateurs: that is the formula for hard enduro, and these are the reasons behind the growing popularity of the Erzbergrodeo, Romaniacs and the like. KTM has been involved from the very beginning and launched the special ‘Hardenduro’ model of its two-stroke Enduro 300 EXC for the first time in 2024.

The new version for the 2027 model year is also designed as an uncompromising sports machine and features improved suspension components, detailed refinements, enhanced equipment and the same low kerb weight as before – just under 106 kilograms.

Externally, the new model year of the 300 EXC Hardenduro is recognisable by its new colour scheme, which includes not only the orange frame but also new black-and-white graphics. The Austrians are making these features exclusive to this version, thereby setting the model apart from both the standard 300 EXC variants and the 6Days special editions of the four-stroke models.

The Hardenduro is also lavishly equipped; KTM refers to it as a ‘specially developed race package’. At its heart remains the single-cylinder two-stroke engine with a displacement of 293 cubic centimetres, which is aided by a Supersprox Stealth sprocket to transfer power to the soft Metzeler 6Days Extreme rear tyre and thus to any terrain. An engine skid plate, a more robust oil filler plug, protection for the clutch slave cylinder and the brake disc guard are designed to ensure durability on the toughest terrain. The floating front brake disc is designed to ensure precisely modulated braking, as is the solid rear brake disc. Tension straps, soft ODI grips, enclosed hand guards, specific handlebar pads and the model-specific seat are designed to ensure safe handling of the motorbike.
