Now official: Alex Escrig to ride for world champion team Italtrans in 2027

It had been clear for weeks that Forward rider Alex Escrig would be moving to the Italtrans Racing team in 2027. The deal was officially confirmed on 19 September in Spielberg. The Spaniard has signed a two-year contract with the Bergamo-based team. Italtrans Racing won the Moto2 World Championship title in 2025 with Diogo Moreira. They achieved the same feat in 2020 with Enea Bastianini.

“I’m delighted to have the opportunity to become part of the Italtrans family. This will be a unique chance for me to develop as a rider and benefit from the experience of a world champion team. A big thank you to the whole team for believing in me,” said Escrig.

Escrig is regarded as the best friend of MotoGP star Pedro Acosta. The 22-year-old Spaniard made his Moto2 World Championship debut in 2023 with Forward Racing. After a difficult few years on an underperforming bike, he achieved several top-10 finishes in 2025. This year, the Spaniard has regularly been found among the frontrunners in practice and races. At Silverstone, he secured his first Moto2 podium. In qualifying at the Red Bull Ring on Saturday, he secured third place on the grid.

Adrian Huertas is leaving

In 2027, Escrig will contest his fifth season in the middleweight category of the World Motorcycle Championship. At Italtrans, he will ride a Kalex, with Daniel Munoz as his team-mate. Adrian Huertas, the 2024 Supersport World Champion, will lose his place.

We are delighted to welcome him into our family and can’t wait to embark on this new journey together,” emphasised team manager Laura Bertulessi. “I would also like to thank Adrian for the time we’ve spent together, for all his hard work and for the commitment he has always shown whilst representing our colours. We wish him all the best for the future and for the next chapter of his career.”
