Aspar: Jorge Martinez brings Celestino Vietti into the Moto2 line-up for 2027

On 26 August, MotoGP riders Luca Marini and Fermin Aldeguer were confirmed at KTM Tech3 and VR46 Ducati respectively. Shortly afterwards, a high-profile announcement came from the Moto2 camp. Celestino Vietti will join Jorge Martinez’s Aspar team in 2027 and become Maximo Quiles’s team-mate.

“I’m really delighted. Moving to a team that – as has been shown over the years – is extremely competitive is a fantastic opportunity. I’d like to thank Jorge Martinez ‘Aspar’ and his team for the warm welcome,” said Vietti. “Next year I’ll be changing both team and bike; it will be a wonderful and exciting challenge, and I’ll give it my all to fight for the championship. That will be the goal for the coming year.”

The rider from Valentino Rossi’s VR46 Academy has been competing in the Moto2 World Championship since 2021, where he has already secured eight wins and a total of 17 podium finishes. In 2026, Vietti currently sits seventh in the overall standings with 112 points. Having ridden a Boscoscuro for the SpeedRS team since 2025, he will have to switch back to the Kalex chassis next year.

Successors found for Alonso and Holgado

Aspar’s rider line-up for the 2027 Moto2 season is thus complete. With Quiles and Vietti, fast replacements have been found for David Alonso and Daniel Holgado, who are moving up to MotoGP next year.

“With the signing of Celestino Vietti, we’ve put together a very strong team for the 2027 Moto2 season,” emphasised team boss Jorge Martinez. “With Alonso and Holgado, we’re constantly battling for the top spots – something we aim to repeat next season. We are once again putting our faith in a rider from the VR46 Riders Academy, following our experience with Bagnaia and Migno in the World Championship and with Bezzecchi and Marini in the current MotoJunior series. We hope to be able to provide Vietti with all the necessary resources to fight for the Moto2 title together.”
