Arnhem: Liam Everts (Husqvarna) wins MX2 qualifying race

MX2 qualifying race at the Dutch Grand Prix in Arnhem. Latvian Yamaha works rider Janis Martins Reisulis set the fastest time in qualifying. World Championship leader Guillem Farres (Triumph), who lined up with a black eye following his crash in Uddevalla, was 2.5 seconds off the pace in 9th place.

Holeshot: Sacha Coenen

Belgian Red Bull KTM factory rider Sacha Coenen took the holeshot and led ahead of Liam Everts (Husqvarna), Janis Reisulis (Yamaha) and Guillem Farres (Triumph). Defending champion Simon Längenfelder (KTM) got off to a good start, but was forced wide at the first corner and dropped back to 8th place. As the race progressed, Simon fought his way back up to 6th place.

Sacha Coenen’s crash

Sacha Coenen was pushing hard at the front of the field, taking every risk, and had built up a 2-second lead over Liam Everts, but he was constantly pushing beyond his limits and looked set to crash. With five minutes to go, the inevitable happened: Sacha went down and dropped back to fifth place. Everts took the lead. Sacha managed to overtake Janis Reisulis and finished fourth.

Narrow victory for Everts

Following Sacha’s crash, a battle for second place broke out between the two Triumph works riders. Farres just managed to avoid a crash, opening the door for Mc Lellan. McLellan closed the gap on the leading Everts. The Belgian made no mistakes and won with a lead of 1.1 seconds over McLellan. For ‘Liamski’, it was his first qualifying victory of the 2026 season.
