Uddevalla MX2 Race 1: Sacha Coenen (KTM) secures a start-to-finish victory

MX2 Race 1 in Uddevalla, Grand Prix of Sweden: Spanish World Championship leader Guillem was able to compete on Saturday following his crash in the qualifying race. His laceration to the head was stitched up with three stitches. Despite a poor starting position, he managed a good start from the far outside. Farres was running in the top seven, but at the very spot where he had crashed on Saturday, he faltered once again. Although he didn’t crash this time, he went off the track and dropped back to 11th place.

Sacha Coenen secures a start-to-finish victory

Camden Mc Lellan (Triumph). Red Bull KTM factory rider Sacha Coenen took the holeshot and led the race ahead of Liam Everts (Husqvarna), Janis Reisulis (Yamaha), Camden Mc Lellan and Simon Längenfelder (KTM). On the first lap, Längenfelder was overtaken by Kay Karssemakers (Kawasaki) and dropped back to fifth place. It took the German eight laps to overtake Karssemakers. By that point, the leading group had already pulled away. Längenfelder was unable to close the gap on the riders ahead of him and finished the race in fifth place, half a minute behind. Sacha Coenen won with a lead of 1.3 seconds over Liam Everts (Husqvarna) and Camden Mc Lellan (Triumph).

With his race win and World Championship leader Guillem Farres finishing sixth, Sacha Coenen was able to reduce his deficit in the World Championship standings by a full 10 points. Ahead of the second race, he remains 31 points behind the leader. As Simon Längenfelder finished one place ahead of World Championship leader Farres, he too was able to reduce his deficit by one point to 59 points.

What else happened

Valerio Lata (Honda) collided with Karlis Reisulis on the first lap, crashed and could only focus on damage limitation as he finished in 11th place.
