Acosta’s final races with KTM: “I’ll give it my all right up to the very last day!”

The second half of the 2026 MotoGP season is in full swing, meaning these are Pedro Acosta’s final months with the KTM works team. Next year, the Spaniard will be fighting for wins and podium finishes for Ducati. This does nothing to dampen the 22-year-old’s motivation, even though he is already 67 points behind championship leader Jorge Martin (Aprilia).

“We’ve got nothing to lose!” Third place in the World Championship is still within reach. “We still have something we want to achieve. We may be a long way behind the leader, but third place isn’t that far off.” The KTM rider currently trails third-placed Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia) by 43 points ahead of the races in Emilia-Romagna.

Acosta: “We’re taking bigger risks”

Neither the team nor Acosta himself have scaled back their efforts for the ongoing season. On the contrary: “We’re taking bigger risks.” By this, the rider from Murcia meant not only the risks on the track, but also those involved in preparing the bike. The rider and team are trying out more options to squeeze that final hundredth of a second out of the RC16. However: “We have to accept that Aprilia and Ducati are one or two steps ahead of everyone else. Honda are also on form at the moment.”

As for his goal of celebrating a Grand Prix victory with KTM, nothing has changed for the man with number 37. “If it doesn’t work out, it won’t be because I didn’t give it a go. I’ll give it my all right up until the very last day!”
