Lionspeed GP fields second Porsche at Zandvoort

Lionspeed GP is delighted to welcome the newly crowned Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup champion, Flynt Schuring, to the team for the upcoming GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup race weekend at Zandvoort. Schuring will make his GT World Challenge Europe debut in an additional car for the team, racing alongside DTM regular Nicolas Baert.

Schuring made history last month when, at the age of 20 years and 11 days, he became the youngest champion in the history of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. He achieved this feat a year after winning the rookie title in the same championship, further underpinning his rise through the Porsche junior programme.

Lionspeed GP is now looking forward to welcoming Schuring as he takes the next big step in his racing career, when he will make his debut in the world’s most competitive GT3 series in the Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo, bearing start number 89, on 18 and 19 September at the Sprint Cup race in Zandvoort, where he will make his debut in the world’s most competitive GT3 championship at the wheel of the No. 89 Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo.

Schuring will team up with Belgian racing driver Baert in the Silver Cup, who joins the team bringing his GT3 experience to the table. He currently drives for Comtoyou Racing in the DTM and won the Gold Cup title in the Sprint Cup in 2023. Most recently, he secured a Silver Cup victory in the three-hour Endurance Cup race at the Nürburgring.

Schuring and Baert will take turns at the wheel of the No. 89 Porsche, which features Lionspeed GP’s signature red-and-white livery and is supported by long-standing partners Manorhaven, Abacus Global Management, Staloc and Beyond Capital Partners.

By signing Schuring, Lionspeed GP is sticking to its tried-and-tested approach of fostering young talent and giving them the opportunity to take their first steps in the world’s most fiercely contested GT3 championship.

Bastian Buus, winner of this year’s CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa and a contender for the overall title in the Sprint Cup, is also a former Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup champion and made his debut in the GT World Challenge Europe with Lionspeed GP in 2024.

Buus and his regular team-mate Ricardo Feller will continue their title challenge at Zandvoort in the No. 80 Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo, which is supported by Potentia, a North America-based developer of next-generation industrial and AI infrastructure.
